Scenic Airlines Captain Wing

Boulder City, NV 1967-2009

Scenic Airlines (not to be confused with Scenic Airways) was started in 1967 in North Las Vegas. The airline eventually moved to Las Vegas's McCarran International Airport. In 1993 the airline was sold to Sky West Airlines and it continued to see growth and then it merged with Eagle Canyon Airlines in 1998. In spring 2006, citing rising fuel costs, the airline announced it would be ceasing scheduled passenger operations to focus on its sightseeing flights. On March 29, 2007, Scenic Airlines was sold to Grand Canyon Airlines but continued operating under its own name. Scenic Airlines moved its operations to the Boulder City Municipal Airport. Although operations have been merged, both Scenic and Grand Canyon had been operating under two operating certificates. Scenic no longer exists after April 30, 2009 after both airlines began operations under the Grand Canyon Airlines operating certificate.
